Stay Awake!

Stay Awake!

Spiritual Readiness?

But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned;1 Cor. 2:14.

The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit.

The ancient Greek word for natural man is “psuchikos.” It describes the materialist, who lives as if there were nothing beyond this physical life. This is the kind of life common to all animals.[i]

        We all start life when we are born; the life inherited from Adam when God gave His breath to him. The natural man is unregenerate man, unsaved man, ever since the Fall in Genesis 3. We all have to deal with the material world, so there is nothing inherently sinful in “natural” life; but it is a life without the knowledge of God. But life on this level is without any spiritual insight; because he does not know anything better!

Strong's Hebrew: 7307. ר֫וּחַ (ruach) -- spirit, wind, breathzzz

1.        breath of mouth or nostrils (33 t.)

2.        wind (117 t.)

3.        spirit, as that which breathes quickly in animation or agitation = temper, disposition (76 t.; …

4.        spirit of the living, breathing being, dwelling in the בָּשָׂר of men and animals, "" נֶפֶשׁ (25 t.)[ii]

Strong's Greek: 4151. πνεῦμα (pneuma) -- Spirit, wind, breath

Jesus was conceived “of the Holy Spirit” (Matthew 1:20), anointed “with the Holy Spirit and with power” (Acts 10:38), drove out demons “by the Spirit of God” (Matthew 12:28), and was …[iii]

         So, when we talk about God’s Spirit, the breath of God, he does not understand in general. Man thinks, at this stage,  “why waste time on “spiritual” things.” Making money whatever possible way and having fun seem to be more satisfying and the norm of life itself!

Think about this….

Who hath directed the Spirit of the LORD, or being his counsellor hath taught him?; Isa. 40: 13.

Does God need any counsel? Any instruction? He does not need a teacher, and no one need to show Him the way of understanding.

Secret Place

All those who live a life of communion with God are constantly safe under His protection, and may preserve a holy serenity and security of mind at all times. He that by faith chooses God for his guardian shall find all in Him that he needs.

He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty: Psa. 91:1.

And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal; Mat 25:46.

“Go away" wicked are driven into darkness. This speaks of an irresistible conviction of guilt and a final despair of mercy. The punishment of the wicked in the future state will be everlasting,...
And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts; Gal. 5:24.

       Christ will never own those as His who yield themselves as the servants of sin. It is not enough we cease to do evil, but must learn to do well, and must show forth those fruits of the Spirit.

Through the Lens of Science….

Do you know Obedience to authority reduces cognitive conflict before an action? Do we believe God is our Father in heaven, and full of authority?

How obeying orders impacts moral decision-making remains an open question, despite its significant societal implications. The goal of this study was to determine if cognitive conflict, indexed by mid-frontal theta activity observed before an action, is influenced by the context of obedience.[iv]

“Many things are great which are not precious, such as great rocks, which are of little value; on the other hand, many things are precious which are not great-such as diamonds and other jewels, which cannot be very great if they be very precious. But here we have promises which are so great, that they are not less than infinite, and so precious, that they are not less than divine.” (Spurgeon)[v]

    Humility and love are precisely the graces which the men of the world can understand, if they do not comprehend doctrines. They are the graces about which there is no mystery, and they are within reach of all classes. The poorest Christian can every day find occasion for practicing love and humility; (J.C. Ryle).

Trapp says, “The Lord doth usually and graciously water the holy fellowship of his people with the dews of many sweet and glorious refreshing; so that they have a very heaven upon earth.”

Intellectual humility involves awareness of limitations, openness to new ideas, and the willingness to revise beliefs. It improves tolerance toward differing viewpoints and enhances relationships. Dec 27, 2023.[vi]  Humility is always for God’s glory and for our own good;

Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves;

Phil. 2: 3.

Neuroscience research shows that humility has a calming effect on our nervous system. This is supporting to especially on the limbic system which is the emotional nervous system. This promotes rational thinking.
