Look Beyond!
Steps for a Healthy Mind….
God is a gentleman and He knocks….and if we open the door He will come in! He wants us to have a relationship with Him, to know Him more!
Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me; Rev. 3: 20.
Tongue
of the Learned!
The Lord God hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned; Isa. 50: 4-5.
To speak a word in season to him who is weary; is a beautiful ministry of the Holy Spirit. This is a
glorious use of our
tongue; and God’s word says, it is the tongue of the learned.
So, when a person speaks, we know if they are learned or not. The words of
our mouth, reveals our heart.
Jesus Christ from very young could speak with the tongue of the learned ...
The Messiah, speaking prophetically,
looks back to a custom described in Exodus 21:5-6, where a servant became a willing
bondslave to his master. The sign of this willing servant was the ear opened by
the piercing of an awl, done against the entry doorway of the master. This
speaks of the total submission of the Messiah to the Lord GOD.[i]
Cleansing
process….
But this shall be the
covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the
LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts;
and will be their God, and they shall be my people;
Jer. 31: 33.
The new covenant does not do away with or renounce the law. It makes the law closer and more important by setting it in the mind and heart, instead of on a stone tablet or page. “It would no longer be like the external one made with the fathers, but spiritual and internal, and based on an intimate knowledge of Jehovah.” (Morgan)
Ever since the Fall, we humans are not able to discern between the right from the wrong, and God has given us the Ten commandments for us to follow and this sis fulfilled in Christ. The New covenant given by Jesus Christ, through His shed blood, and the Word of God, brings to humanity internal transformation. This means the law given to Moses by God is not only external, because all the laws were fulfilled in the New covenant.
Grow up....
Brethren, be not children in understanding: howbeit in malice be ye children, but in understanding be men;1 Cori. 14: 20.
Often, we are selfish; and our desire is to edify ourselves at the expense of others, as it was in the days of Paul in Corinth in the churches. That means we are like children, selfish and immature. We have to learn to become mature because God has called us all, to equip ourselves and grow in Him. We have to learn and apply in our lives showing our maturity. This is a higher call!
Prepare your mind for
action...
Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;1 Pet. 1:13.
“It denotes a condition free from every form of mental and spiritual loss of self-control; it is an attitude of self-discipline that avoids the extremes.” (Hiebert)
Impure thoughts, earth bound thoughts, fear, worry and anxiety need to leave slowly. We get renewed and cleansed, by the Holy Spirit. We get strengthened and be strong in this troubled life. Do not allow evil schemes to pull us down. This is a process and this happens slowly…from faith to faith and from glory to glory. We have to work with Christ and stay in His word. Be in the word every day. We all need daily cleansing. Great peace that passeth all understanding will begin to fill our hearts.
Look
Beyond!
Finally, brethren,
whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are
just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever
things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise,
think on these things; Phil. 4: 8.
Essentially Paul is saying that, the
fruit and the food of the mind needed to be guarded. This is done by God’s
peace which is supernaturally provided for us. These good things when it
occupies our mind, and stay in our mind
(heart and the brain) then it begins to sprout and comes forth from within us!
Fill
your minds....
And be
renewed in the spirit of your mind; Ephes. 4:23.
Fundamentally, for a Christian, there must be a complete break from the past. The work of Jesus on the cross is far beyond what we can imagine and argue about. The old life dies and He becomes our new life. I pray God will fill us with a deep hunger for us, so we grow in Him and are deeply satisfied.
“So, if you want to know the Lord Jesus Christ, you must live with him. First he must himself speak to you, and afterwards you must abide in him. He must be the choice Companion of your morning hours, he must be with you throughout the day, and with him you must also close the night; and as often as you may wake during the night, you must say, ‘When I awake, I am still with thee.’ ” (Spurgeon)
Finally
we can live as in…
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God; Rom. 12: 2.
Strong's Greek: 3339. μεταμορφόω (metamorphoó) -- To transform, to ...
Strong’s Greek 3339 charts a movement from sight of divine glory to sharing in that glory. It anchors sanctification in Christ’s own …[ii] The same word is used to describe Jesus in His transfiguration;
And after six days Jesus taketh with him Peter,
and James, and John, and leadeth them up into an high mountain apart by
themselves: and he was transfigured before them. And his raiment became
shining, exceeding white as snow; so as no fuller on earth can white them; Mk.
9: 2-3.
“Whereas the heathen are
prone to sacrifice in order to obtain mercy, biblical faith teaches that the
divine mercy provides the basis of sacrifice as the fitting response.” (Harrison)
