The Chief End of Man: God’s Handiwork Uttereth!

The Chief End of Man:

 God’s Handiwork Uttereth!

Night Sky Aurora borealis

(Just above our house)

The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge. There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard. Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun; Psa. 19: 1-4.

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters; Gen. 1:1-2.

What does "ruach" mean? - Bible Hub

Ruach is a Hebrew word that can mean breath, wind, or spirit, depending on the context. It often refers to God's Spirit, His presence and power in creation and redemption.[i]

          The word’s first use in the Bible appears in the second verse: The Spirit of God [Ruach Elohim] was hovering over the waters”.

And, behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, from under heaven; and every thing that is in the earth shall die; Gen. 6:17.

And God remembered Noah, and every living thing, and all the cattle that was with him in the ark: and God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters assuaged; Gen. 8:1.

           In Genesis 6:17 ruach is translated “breath of life.” Genesis 8:1 uses ruach to describe the “wind” God sent over the earth to recede the Flood waters. Altogether, the word ruach is found almost may be more than 400 times in the Old Testament.

        (Ref. Psa. 19:2) ‘uttereth‘ signifies the act of proclaiming or expressing aloud. This is regarding how God speaks through His Handiwork, with  divine messages, prophecies, or sacred truths.

Uttereth Meaning In The Bible: Speaking With Authority

Jul 16, 2025 · In Hebrew, ‘uttereth’ is often linked to the verb אֲמַר (amar), meaning ‘to say’ or ‘to speak.’ This term carries weight in conveying divine declarations and prophetic pronouncements.[ii]

Strong's Hebrew: 561. אֵ֫מֶר (emer) -- Word, speech, saying

אֵמֶר threads through the Old Testament as a reminder that speech is never neutral. God’s words create, command, and covenant; human words are judged by the same standard.[iii]

        The metaphysical aspects of humanity has a huge role to play here in our belief system. Soul is the intellectual property (mind, will, intellect, emotions, volitions and the choices we make) God has endowed to humanity by His own breath, in the Garden of Eden. I strongly, believe that if  God had not placed the sun, the moon, the stars, aurora borealis, and it is in the utter darkest night sky, the total blackness of night, could have communicated powerfully to the human souls!

Utters speech: “This is stronger in the Hebrew text than it appears to be in English, for the image is literally of a gushing spring that copiously pours forth sweet, refreshing waters of revelation.” (Boice)

      This is possible for all humanity, both ancient and modern, because God has placed our soul within us by His breath. In the utter darkness our souls can recognize something, which is beyond us. Our intellect works even in the utter darkness. We are created fearfully and wonderfully; (Ref. Psa. 139). An extremely authenticated Bible verse;

Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost; Matt. 1:18.

Though all preachers on earth should grow silent, and every human mouth cease from publishing the glory of God, the heavens above will never cease to declare and proclaim his majesty and glory. They are for ever preaching; for, like an unbroken chain, their message is delivered from day to day and from night to night.” (Tholuck, cited in Spurgeon)

        Faith on ourselves is like standing on a sandy, shadowy ground and building our dreams on it. This can happen to anyone if unchecked because  the deception of the enemy of our souls, can be very crafty. We have to place our trust on Christ, and build on The Rock. In times of storms, this Rock, the Christ is the unmovable safe harbour!

“For the scientist who has lived by his faith in the power of reason, the story ends like a bad dream. He has scaled the mountains of ignorance; he is about to conquer the highest peak; as he pulls himself over the rock, he is greeted by a band of theologians who have been sitting there for centuries.” (Astronomer and physicist Robert Jastrow, cited in Boice)

It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life; Jn. 6:63.

Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:  And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world;

1 Jn. 4: 2-3.

     The disciples, and others found Jesus’ words somewhat mysterious, but it was the parts they did understand that were really disturbing. To deny the true Jesus is the basis of the spirit of the Antichrist.

“The Spirit imparts life to the believer; it is not transmitted by the process of physical eating.” (Tenney)

Wisdom crieth without; she uttereth her voice in the streets: Prov. 1: 20.

“It is little wonder that the disciples found the discourse of Jesus hard. The Greek word is skleros, which means not hard to understand; but hard to accept.” (Barclay)

“The greatest tragedy is that there’s so much noise that people can’t hear the things they really need to hear. God is trying to get through to them with the voice of wisdom, but all they hear are the confused communications clutter, foolish voices that lead them farther away from the    truth.” (Wiersbe)

         Here is the warning: For anyone on any trade, intellects, philosophers, or any highly achieved professional, or an ordinary individual, when we live on our own faith, faith in ourselves, our final story can end like a long dream!  The faith in God, as He utters, and when we are not able to discern beyond ourselves, and when we forsake Christ, we are doomed to “Eternal Separation from God for Ever”!

“Here the open proclamation…to make it clear that the offer of wisdom is to the man in the street, and for the business of living, not to an élite for the pursuit of scholarship.” (Kidner)

Doth not wisdom cry? and understanding put forth her voice? She standeth in the top of high places, by the way in the places of the paths. She crieth at the gates, at the entry of the city, at the coming in at the doors. Unto you, O men, I call; and my voice is to the sons of man; Prov. 8:1-4.

The important point is that wisdom is for ordinary people—she is not confined to the academic classroom or to sacred precincts of the temple. Nor is she high atop some mountain where only the hardiest and most determined will find her. To the contrary, she wants to attract all and be accessible to all.” (Garrett)

The fear of the Lord is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate. Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom: I am understanding; I have strength;

Prov. 8: 13-14.

Prudence: “Prudence is defined, wisdom applied to practice; so wherever true wisdom is, it will lead to action.” (Clarke)

 “The loudness and the perseverance of the voice is that of an earnest friend who warns of danger. For would she have cried so loud or continued for so long if she had not loved your soul, if she had not known the wrath that was hanging over you, the hell that was before you?” (Bridges)

“There is no speech nor language where their voice is not heard.  The glory of God: in the visible heavens above is for all humanity to see. This is God’s way to communicate to all man, both the rich and the poor, the elite, educated, uneducated, laborers, and children! It does not matter, which race, tribe or gender, and the language one speaks. The message from above has gone out through all the earth.

Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man; Ecc. 12:13.
